South of the Border RV Park - Camp Pedro RV Park We pulled into Camp Pedro RV Park, just one of the many features of this little town they call "South of the Border," in South Carolina at exit 1. We arrived at 4:30 p.m. after leaving from Woodbine, Georgia at around 9:30 a.m. The office of this campground informed us that there were no trees in the site we were assigned. It was a 50 amp site. Upon arriving at the site, there were quite a few trees. There was a tree on our passenger side of our RV, there was a tree on the drivers side of our RV, and then upon fully pulling into the site there was another tree on the driver side of the site. There were many trees in front of our RV after we parked. We were very upset. Then we decided to just plug our RV in to see if we could get our direct TV and our internet satellites. Neither one of our satellites came in. I called the office in total anger. All they had to tell us when we arrived that there were trees and assign us to a site without trees. Then the man at the office informed us that the RV next to us has his satellite in and we should be able to get our satellite in. I was quite upset. Every RV's satellite's are in different locations and to tell us what someone else could get has nothing to do with our RV. Then he suggested for us to come back to the office to be reassigned. I objected. We did not feel up to unhooking our car or to driving our RV all the way back to the office. This park is quite large. Then he suggested we find another spot. After finding the other site, that turned out to be only 30 amps, which was okay, but again he suggested that we have to come to the office to get a new site slip. I objected tremendously and suggested that he come to us with a new "site slip". He claimed it needed to be signed by the office or security would have a problem. Plus he stated that no one in the office could possibly leave. Finally, he let us stay at the site. I asked the RV office if we should get a a discount because in our 8 years of RVing, 30 amps sites are cheaper than 50 amp sites. The office claimed all sites were the same price. That was a bit hard to believe. I called their main number to speak with the general manager. Of course, the general manager never returned my phone call and as of 8:00 a.m. the following morning, I still have not heard from the general manager. After traveling for many hours, we do not need this kind of treatment. If this was a hotel and we were simply driving a car, I could understand. But 40 foot RVs with cars in tow are quite a bit to handle. When we arrive at an RV park we are tired and ready to hook up and settle down for the night. The treatment from this RV park was less than honorable. With all of their many advertisements on interstate 95 we thought this would be a great RV park to stay the night. False and misleading advertising should be against the law. I called again at 8:00 a.m. the following morning to speak with Gerald Moody, general manager, and of course, he was not in. RVers need to be aware that Camp Pedro RV Park at the South of the Border, has many trees where there 50 amp service is located and if you are going to use your satellites, please be aware.
